Arvind Kejriwal will stay as the Chief Minister of Delhi. However, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, might take on a big role in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) soon, according to party sources. Sunita Kejriwal has been leading the opposition against the arrest of her husband, Arvind Kejriwal. He was arrested on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy.
Sunita Kejriwal’s Growing Role in AAP
Sunita Kejriwal, making her political debut, attended the “Loktantra Bachao” rally at Ramlila ground on March 31. She praised Arvind Kejriwal and criticized the central government for keeping him in jail. Despite facing challenges, she expressed confidence that people would respond to what she called “dictatorship.”
Comparisons to Rabri Devi
Union Minister and BJP leader Hardeep Singh Puri suggested that Sunita Kejriwal could be like Rabri Devi, the former Bihar chief minister. He hinted that she might take on a more prominent role in AAP, similar to how Rabri Devi succeeded her husband, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in Bihar politics. Another BJP leader, Anurag Thakur, also made similar comparisons.
Arvind Kejriwal and Other AAP Leaders in Jail
Arvind Kejriwal is the latest AAP leader to be incarcerated in Tihar Jail in connection with the excise policy case. Previously, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh were also jailed over alleged involvement in the same issue. Kejriwal is currently in Jail Number 2 under observation, marking a challenging time for the AAP leadership.
