Padma Awards 2024: The government announced the Padma awards for this year, which are some of the highest honors in India. There are 132 people receiving the awards, including two cases where two people are honored together. The list includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri Awards. Among the awardees, 30 are women, and 8 are from the categories of foreign non-resident Indian (NRI), person of Indian origin (PIO), overseas citizenship of India (OCI). Additionally, there are nine posthumous awardees.

The Padma Awards are given based on recommendations from the Padma Awards Committee, formed by the Prime Minister each year. The committee, led by the Cabinet Secretary and consisting of the Home Secretary, Secretary to the President, and four to six other notable individuals, suggests names for approval by the Prime Minister and the President of India.
