Bharat Bandh 2024: CBSE Recommends Metros Over Roads, Perhaps Having An Influence On Board Exam Dates

Bharat Bandh 2024

As the Farmers’ Protest enters its third day, central trade unions and SKM have announced a nationwide ‘Bharat Bandh’ scheduled for February 16. This development has raised concerns among students as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced annual board examinations for classes 10th and 12th. There is uncertainty regarding whether the protest will affect the school schedule.

Joint Strike and Road Blockades

Currently, workers and farmers are organizing a joint strike termed as the “sectoral industrial strike” and “Grameen Bharat Bandh.” The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a non-political farmers’ group, is rallying similar farmer organizations to participate in the protest, which is slated to occur from 6 AM to 4 PM.

Impact on Education Boards

To address potential traffic disruptions arising from political unrest in North Indian states, CBSE has advised students appearing for exams to utilize metro services and avoid roadways to reach their designated examination centers. Despite the ongoing protests, state governments have not announced any changes to the school schedule as CBSE, ICSE, and BSEB have already commenced their examinations.

Closure of Services during Bharat Bandh

Media reports suggest that on the day of the Bharat Bandh, various private and government offices, as well as village shops, may remain closed. Transportation services, agricultural activities, and projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) could also witness interruptions. However, essential services such as ambulance operations, medical shops, and schools will continue to operate normally, ensuring public safety and well-being throughout the duration of the strike.
