Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalized in Kolkata after reporting chest pain on Saturday. Admitted around 10.30 am due to feelings of unease, Chakraborty’s health condition has become a cause for concern.
Medical Evaluation Underway
According to a hospital spokesperson, Chakraborty is currently undergoing medical evaluation, and further details will be provided as they become available. A doctor at the hospital informed PTI that the MRI reports are awaited, and Chakraborty is presently in the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) under the care of a neuro medicine specialist.
Awaiting Confirmation from Family
While the hospital provides updates on Chakraborty’s condition, his family has yet to issue a formal statement or confirmation regarding his health status.
Renowned Career and Recent Achievements
Mithun Chakraborty, known for his recent role as a judge on Dance Bangla Dance, received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in January 2024. With an illustrious career spanning over 350 films in various Indian languages, Chakraborty expressed disbelief upon learning of the honour.
In a video message shared last month, the 73-year-old actor, renowned for his debut in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigaya and a career spanning nearly five decades, expressed gratitude for receiving an esteemed honor.

Reflecting on his journey, he stated, “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour.” He went on to convey his inability to fully articulate the depth of his emotions, adding, “It is a feeling I can’t express.”
