Vadodara DM receives case from Gujarat

A school picnic in Vadodara, Gujarat, took a heartbreaking turn on Thursday afternoon when a boat carrying students and teachers overturned in Harni lake. This tragic incident claimed the lives of 16 individuals, including 14 students and two teachers.

Two dozen students and four teachers were enjoying a boat ride as part of the picnic when the accident occurred. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate any remaining missing persons.

“With profound grief, we confirm the loss of 14 children and two teachers in this tragic incident,” stated an official from the Harni Police Station. “One student who was rescued is receiving treatment at SSG Hospital.”

Prime Minister expressed his condolences and announced immediate support for the affected families. In a statement, he said, “Distressed by the loss of lives due to a boat capsizing at the Harni lake in Vadodara. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected.”

The Prime Minister’s Office also announced ex-gratia payments of Rs. 2 lakh for the family of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for each injured individual.
